Melaka....My Unplanned Trip (Part 1)

When I reached home from work on Thursday night, my wife started a conversation and it goes something like this....

Wife : You work or not this Saturday?

Me : Why?

Wife : Go jalan-jalan lah.....

Me : Where?

Wife : Melaka lor.....

Me : Err....ok..set!! but when? <--- still feeling blurry & dizzy from work
Wife : Aiyoo...I just mentioned Saturday mah...can?
Me : oohh...ya..ya..ya....caaaannnnnnnnnn....
Daughter : uwasuti wahdidi gadido dadii.... <-- still a baby language!! It means, "can I follow also daddy....".
Me : yes my dear, why not? ...... (you make my day sweetie!!)

So, on Saturday 11 a.m., we started our journey to the Historical City of Melaka together with my in-laws (sister & mother). The sky was cloudy from my place but I thought it was a good day to travel. At first, we wanted to go to the zoo, to the crocodile farm, and then to here, there....blah, blah but upon reaching the zoo, we saw lots of cars, traffic was crawling and illegal parkings were everywhere!!! Cancelled plan!! Next stop, straight to the city!!

Oh my god, I said "here we are again...", the traffic jam, the jump-queuing, cars squeezing in and out and yes, illegal parkings again and so fort. After making three round trips in the city, I finally managed to get a legal parking bay. Ahem, I'm always a law abiding citizen. So, I made an assumption that, it was a public holiday and parking should be free of charge. Yes, right. I'll tell you later what happen. Btw, it has been 3 years since I visited Melaka and when I saw the city so different, at one time I thought I was in the wrong city!! More things to see and more people!!! Melaka for me is a photographer's heaven!!! There are so many things you can "shoot" here. The following pictorials should tell you many thousand words...... basically, as a very unprepared tourist, this is my version of "what you see is what you get". Let's start one of my highlights with this one .....

Our first stop, Jonker Street. If you are a Malaysian, don't tell me you do not know this place!! If you are staying in Melaka and you also don't know this street..... then I'll say "alamak" to poor you.

Yes, the main entrance of Jonker Street. Let's do the Jonker Walk!!

This is what happen when hungry people with the same taste as you and looking for food at the same time same place!!

Our decent meal of the day. Curry fish head (in a chicken rice shop?), Steam Chicken and fish balls....err balls of rice. Ahemm.

Busy street...... That's Jonker. Errr...not really. Actually, it's everywhere in the city!!

4-10, anyone? A simple term for RM10 for 4. I did not buy anyway. Hehehe...

This is was what actually? Is it something that you tie to your cellphone/potable device? You readers tell me lah. I know, I'm old already and I'm not "in"....but at least I have the right to know...right?

I wonder why these people never utilized this fan in a very hot afternoon!! How come this fan looks so difference from the one at my home?

Aaahh..the master said "cannot". Silly me!! Well, the master definitely waiting for a new owner. One of the best place to buy especially if you are an antics enthusiast.

This was the coffee shop where we had our best cendol in town. All of us agreed. My daughter even said..... "Avasi"... a kadazan-dusun dialect that means "Good". Yes, I felt good.

Haa.... we bought this for ourself. Why, because they put a family in their advertisement. So it's for family and it should be good. This thing is so sweet and hard until it stucks between your teeth. Some more no preservative you know.

Continue in Part 2.......

So tell what you think so far.....please don't be shy. Drop a few words and say "Hi" or something else.....
